Meet Ray Taylor
Raymond “Ray” Taylor is an aspiring director. A late bloomer in life, Ray didn’t enter the film industry until 2017, when his father was looking for a camera operator to help with his small video advertisement business.Despite his unconventional entry into the film industry, Ray is no stranger to the art of storytelling, having had an extensive background in theater.
Ray began his online program at The Los Angeles Film School in 2020 when the pandemic hit and dove headfirst into the world of filmmaking. In May 2021, he set himself a challenge: make a short film every month for a year. This journey not only polished his directing skills but also helped him build a tight-knit community of fellow filmmakers and actor.
Ray spent the summer of 2023 interning at both Shout! Studios and Academy Gold, graduating in the middle of both internships in July. His time at Shout! Studios provided valuable insights into the financial aspects of the industry, while Academy Gold further enriched his understanding of various facets of filmmaking, from production to distribution.
Currently Ray is working on several short films, and is working with his wife to adapt a book into a feature film. In his spare time, he loves to spend time with his wife and dog, watch movies, play video games, build Lego sets, and spend time outdoors kayaking and hiking.
